USATODAY.COM: Kevin Allen recently suggested if the Atlanta Thrashers fail to re-sign Ilya Kovalchuk before next summer a KHL team "probably would offer to make him the highest paid (hockey) player on the planet".
Commish's Note: I'm not 100% sure, but I think they tried that with Malkin a few years back and he said no dice. The only players the KHL can get are players past their prime or Russians who dont like their entry contracts with the NHL. I doubt Kovalchuk would jet to the KHL, he has too much more to accomplish here 1st.
SPORTINGNEWS.COM: recently noted a report from the Columbus Dispatch regarding the Blue Jackets depth on the wing could result in a trade to address the glaring need for an offensive defenseman.
Commish's Note: This has been a rumour out there for a while. 1st it was for Kablere than for Johnson and now it seems to be for one of the Oilers dmen.

Schneider is a UFA they should pick him up, he showed last year that with the right team he can still produce and quarterback a power-play.
