MLIVE.COM: George James Malik linked to a recent Detroit Free Press article which suggests Red Wings general manager Ken Holland is likely done shopping in this summer's UFA market, at least until September when he'll likely add a thirteenth forward and reexamine the logjam at defense, where he has eight defensemen. The Wings are just over the $56.8 million salary cap by $500K. Defenseman Andreas Lilja is still suffering from post-concussion symptoms and could go on long-term injury status. It's also possible forward Justin Abdelkader could start next season in the minors.
Commish's Note: The Wings have done a good job with the Eaves/Williams signings to some what make up for the loss of Hossa, Kopesky, Samuelsson and Hrudler. 500k is easy to cut when you have 8 dmen.
