DAILYHERALD.COM: Talks continue between Blackhawks, Martin Havlat and Nikolai Khabibulin. Any offer for the latter would be one year.
Commish's Note:
There's no way they can afford both Khabby and Huet, so thats out of the question. Personally, I wouldn't give Havlat an 8 year deal, but I'm sure some GM will.
AJC.COM: Thrashers GM needs to improve roster to convince Ilya Kovalchuk to re-sign. Kari Lehtonen or Ondrej Pavelec could be dealt this summer.
Commish's Note:
If the do indeed put one of those 2 goalies on the market, they could fetch quite a good return, especially from the Kings or Oilers.
BUFFALO NEWS: Jaroslav Spacek expected to test UFA market.
Commish's Note:
An underrated defenseman for years in the NHL might get soem good coin and would be a huge loss to the Sabers.
STARTRIBUNE.COM: Wild GM remains interested in Dany Heatley but unwilling to move Brent Burns in return. Wild could target Saku Koivu in UFA market, could also shop for defensemen.
Commish's Note:
I wouldn't give up Burns either.
NJ.COM: Scott Clemmensen doesn't rule out return with Devils, also suggests club could lose he and Kevin Weekes as backups.
Commish's Note:
Whoever think Clemmensen wasn't a product of the Devil's style of play is dreaming. He's not more than a back-up and wont get starters money anywhere.
SUNSENTINEL.COM: Panthers hopeful of re-signing Jordan Leopold, acquired in yesterday's trade of Jay Bouwmeester to Calgary
Commish's Note:
Whoever's the temp. GM there should get the permanent job if they can sign Leopold. Way to salvage a bad situation!
ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH: Polak, Blues in talks on a mult-year contract.
Commish's Note:
Yay???
