Yea but with these trades they get a really good tender in Js Giguere and they get an amazing dman in Phaneuf and they get a big prospect in kieth aulie and they also get a speedster in sjorstrom which makes up for the loss of white blake and stajan and hagman who honestly were not a part of toronto's long term plans now the younger guys can step up from the minors and tear it up in the NHL because of their will to win and you watch the leafs will climb up the standings now and potentially fight for the 8th spot.
Brian Burke made huge moves today and with these moves solitify a hard hitting dman who has one hell of a shot. The leafs also get prospect kieth aulie who is 6'6" and can actually skate. With Jason Blake he is an old player and anahiem wanted him most likely for depth. Now all the leafs need is a person who can play alongside Kessel and Bozak and they will be set for now it will be ponikarovsky who isnt terrible but they could upgrade a lot at the position.
With Getting Giguere that solitify's a goaltender who is actually good since having CuJo in the 90's and maybe this will improve The moster considering he will learn from a guy who alraedy has a ring and who has been said as one of the hardest working goalies burke has ever had and he has had a lot of goaltenders. With this trade it give the moster some time to develop and giggy another chance to prove he is a legit starting goaltender All without giving up his core pieces of players in kessel Kaberle Schenn Gustavsson Bozak and he gets rid of people who were not going to be on the team longterm anyways especially mayers and blake who are 32+ years old and who are in the tail end of thier careers. SO Burke made moves today for the future of the team and Toronto has a chance now at making the 8th spot in the Eastern confrence.
