Ok, this ISN'T a GM check, but input is VERY VERY VERY VERY much so appreciated....
So here's the deal....Ed Isch has been nice enough to offer me use of his license for the STHS simulator (as opposed to the FHL simulator).
There are pros an cons to this move, so I am putting this to a vote with you guys....
Ed will comment on the STHS after this post...so please, input is appreciated...

I will start by saying that I will make a comparasin. FHLSim is a model T Ford when compared the STHS Ferrari.
In my experience with using STHS both as a commish and as a GM has been nothing but awesome.
First as a commish I would have to say the support for STHS is second to none. If there is some sort of problem, chances are there is a solution on the board. ALSO, and this is the BIG one, STHS is always being updated. Where as FHLSim hasn't been updated in five years (September 17, 2004. - date of the LAST FHLSim update). STHS last was updated on August 12, 2009. That's pretty good service if you ask me.
The rerates aren't the absolute best (never will be I think), but are far and above FHLSim rerates which I think are purely random. There is a really cool tool that the commish can use to MASS rerate players based on different criteria. I have used this option and let me tell you it is a valuable tool.
Being able to set the salary cap in the sim saves me alot of time having to actually look at every teams finances to see if they are over the cap. The Client(GMEditor) will not allow you to save your lines if you are over the cap. There are too many enhancements to name here for the commish.
As a GM the ability to set strategy is a nice touch. Actually have a farm league that you can control is nice.
I think the attributes that are there define a players ability a little better then FHLSim does. For instance there is a FO(faceoff) attribute. Obviously you would want your center to have high FO.
I liked it so much that I beta tested V2 of STHS and actually converted my league to it before it's public release. Simon puts out a great product and I think this is the NEXT STEP in the evolution of the VHL.
With that said, if ANYONE has any questions or would like to check out the Client(I can provide a league file for you to play around with) contact me. I can show you the ropes.

I VOTED YES BUT I'M ALSO GOOD IF WE STAY WITH FHL. MY LEAN WOULD BE TOWARD STHS. ONCE U GET THE HANG OF IT, IT FEELS SO MUCH MORE LIKE REAL LIFE.

I voted yes. I'm about as old school FHL as they come. I love it's simple, quick and easy gm editor. But i also realize that eventually we could run into some problem that just can't be fixed.
I was really hesitant to try this sths program and so i joined Violent Ed's league a couple seasons ago. I think it's a great program.
I think it'd be great to see the VHL step into the next generation with sths.

I would liek to know who voted "no" and why.....there are soem draw back to the STHS, especially if you're old school like Andy and I would liek to hear thoughts from both sides.

I personally dont have any experience with the new sim. but I am up for it, I have parused some websites for leagues that use the sim and it does seem to be a whole lot more in depth

I was one of the no votes.
I'm not sure if it was the commish or what but it seemed that the morale affected it a lot more than it should. Once morale started going down there was no coming back . If it was just something that we messed up and put the slider to affect it to much my bad.
But If there is a consensus to switch over to STHS i would be on board.
Aside from that i enjoyed the STHS system.

From my experience starting with high morale is BAD. REALLY BAD. I start my league with a MAX of 10MO. So really you can only go down 10 points in morale. You can even disable it if wanted. I would guess the league in question started with high morale.

I would have to say yes. In our season in ASHL we've had nothing but success and have had fun with it....so I'm go all the way.

yeah he had it based out of 100 , starting out with 50. just wasn't fun anymore when a rec team looking squad beat the all star team just cause the morale was high and the all star team had a slump at the begining . It sounds like you know the STHS system very well ED

There is also a slider in the league options that can be set to how much MORALE effects at all. I have mine set to 25 out of 100. So it effects some but not too much. Although in converting to V2 of STHS I will have to reassess alot of my league settings.

Are we looking at V1 or V2 for VHL?
There are somethings i like better about V1 and some i like better about V2...but i think if we do change to sths it would be easier to go to V1 first as it is quite a bit simpler. I think jumping into V2 with both feet could be too big of a jump all at once for people with no sths experience.

Yes V1. I won't give my V2 license away until there is a V3.
