JUST A LITTLE REMINDER 2 EVERYONE THAT U MUST KEEP YOUR FINANCES IN ORDER AND NOT BE IN THE MINUS AT SEASONS END. THERE ARE PENALTIES FOR THIS. BTW THE SEALS HAVE 76 MIL IN THEIR ACCOUNT FOR ANYONE WHO WISHES TO COMPETE WITH THEM IN THIS AUCTION.

I have to argue that this system has a negative impact on the team. Yes a player should be auctioned off, however I beleive you are after the wrong player. Instead of auctioning off the highest rated player, wouldn't it make more sense to auction off the highest PAID player instead? In the Jets case it would be Phil Housley, Kirk McLean or Dale Andreychuk. In this case of a tie, where multiple players make the same amount of money, then thats when we should use the highest OV (In this example it would be Phil Housley)
How does removing a player who sits 6th on the teams finace list help the team with finances?
The team is still penalized with the loss of a player, but the punishment should also be part of the solution, no the start of a new problem for the franchise.
Just my thought (But I know what you'll say Ed! ("the rules are not arguable!" then you'll run screaming to your room, pull out your neighbors panties (the ones you stole from her a week earlier while she was out) and sniff them. So with that being said;
the Northstars bid $21,000,000.00 for Scott Stevens

U MAKE A VERY VALID ARGUEMENT MR. BISKUP. THE JETS ARE LOSING THEIR BEST PLAYER IN THIS AUCTION, WHICH MEANS NOT MUCH CHANCE OF IMPROVEMENT UNTIL MAYBE FREE AGENCY WHERE THERE MAY BE A CHANCE THAT PLAYERS WILL NOT GO THERE BECAUSE OF THE LOSS OF SUCH A PLAYER RENDERING THE TEAM EVEN WEAKER THAN THEY ALREADY ARE. I AGREE BUT RULES ARE RULES. I'M OUT ANYWAYS IT'S ALREADY 2 STEEP 4 ME. ED, I KNOW U ARE THE COMMISH WITH THE FINAL WORD ON EVERYTHING IN THIS LEAGUE BUT COULD WE HAVE A VOTE EACH SEASON ON IMPLEMENTING SOME NEW RULES OR CHANGING THE OLD ONES LIKE THE NHL DOES ?

so dave, let me get this straight.... You, decided to disagree with a rule that has not only been on the books for the entire VHL existence, but also the old NvW; which you were a key GM in. THAN you participate in that action that you are against? Seals bid $25mil

I've disagreed with the rule since it was first introduced.
Just because I dissagree with a rule does not mean that I will boy-cout any actions involving it.
At one time goalies weren't allowed to drop to the ice to stop a puck, when they changed the rule I am sure there were a few that opposed. Do you think they told there goalies that "even tho our goalie is allowed to drop to the ice now, I don't think we'll let ours."
I think you got me wrong, I wasn't (still not) arguing the rule. Just arguing who should be involved.
To my knowledge, this is the first time the "best" player has not been the highest paid player.

If you were agaisnt it from the start than thats when you should have spoken up, not in the middle of an auction.
As for "hurting" the team, thats the point! To punish them for breaking a league rule and to deter other GMs from doing the same.

Ed,
Sorry I have had some major stuff going on with my life/family right now. I will email you to explain things a little more. I would rather not step down as a gm because I love this league and the guys...I just haven't had the time plus I have bigger priorities in my life that I have to take care of. Thus the reason I failed to check in and redo my lines. If he still has to be auctioned off and you do or don't allow me to remain in the league I understand, I just had to write this to explain what's going on a little and to appoligize to the league/you.
Regards, Dustin

A dollar! c'mon Ed, make this a true auction not a farce. The increments should be at the million dollar range by now! If you were agaisnt it from the start than thats when you should have spoken up, not in the middle of an auction. I did bring it up when the league was NvW, its the first time since then that it has happened (that I can remember) As for "hurting" the team, thats the point! To punish them for breaking a league rule and to deter other GMs from doing the same. I've agreed from the begining that there should be a punishment, and that this was a good way of going at it...I just argue that he player involved is the wrong player. I think it should be the highest paid player. Maybe you disagree becaues you'd rather Stevens than Housely! lol just kidding. I'd take either!! but not for 30+million Should Stevens be suspended right now?
